Resources

I’m no expert by any means, but these are resources that have helped me.  They may or may not work for you but it has been very helpful for me to know what other people are doing to cope and get through each day successfully.

Books:

Prescription for Nutritional Healing.  This is my go to book any time that I have a health issue, it is basically a natural health medical reference book.  It lists a variety of natural remedies, vitamins, etc that can be used to treat every issue or ailment there is.  I look up initial information and then use the Dr. Weil website to cross reference the information so that I buy the right products.  Vitamins, etc. are like any other product out there; there are lots of versions of everything and they are not all created equal.

Websites:

Dr. Andrew Weil.  This guy is an M.D. and an integrative medicine doctor.  His information about vitamins and supplements is excellent because he tells the best dosage for your needs as well as which version of the vitamin to get.  For example, you might want to take Vitamin E but you need the kind that has mixed tocopherols and mixed tocotrienols.  I write down these specifics and double check them on the bottle label.  I have a few of his books as well.

Real Age.  The Real Age website was created by Dr.Oz (he’s the guy who used to be on Oprah all the time and now he has his own show)  This website preceded his fame and popularity and has great information about health, healthy living, exercise, meditation, etc.  I find the information extremely helpful and reliable and it always checks out when I cross reference with other reputable organizations, like the Mayo Clinic.

Spirit and Emotion:

Guided Meditations and Guided Imagery.  I’ve used guided meditation by Belleruth Naparstek for several years.  The first time I listened to one of these a huge weight was lifted and I felt as if I had just gotten the best night’s sleep of my life and resolved a whole bunch of issues in the process.  I regularly listen to the guided meditation and affirmations for Depression (you don’t have to be depressed to benefit from it!) and for Sleep.  I used the one for Surgery several years ago and I know it made a huge difference in my recovery, even my doctor commented at how quickly I healed.  She also has a Recovery series and there are resources for alcohol, weight loss, etc.  You can use these for years and they are well worth every cent!  I’ve listened to other guided imagery, but the ones from Belleruth are consistently the best in quality as well as sound quality.
